A useful prompt tells the assistant what job to do and gives you a way to judge the result. You do not need a secret phrase; you need a clear purpose, relevant context and a defined output.
This guide turns that into a repeatable brief for everyday Chat, image creation and presentations. The examples are starting points to adapt, not promises that wording alone guarantees accuracy.
Name the audience and the output you need.
Supply evidence and distinguish facts from assumptions.
Revise against a specific criterion rather than asking for vague improvement.
Use a brief with five parts
State the goal, audience, source material, constraints and output. For example: “Using these customer notes, draft a six-slide proposal for our support lead. Recommend one pilot, preserve uncertainty and list missing information. Do not invent quotes or prices.”
A role instruction can be useful when it changes the perspective, but “act as an expert” does not provide missing evidence. The work still needs sources and review.
Show what the desired result looks like
If you have an approved example, explain what to copy from it: structure, level of detail or tone. Do not mix several conflicting examples and expect the assistant to infer a single standard.
For a short explanation, specify a nontechnical audience and one concrete example. For a research summary, specify how to separate findings, limitations and your own interpretation.
Describe composition as well as subject
For an image, include the scene, style, lighting, background and space needed for text. Request no embedded text when you intend to add an editable title in a slide.
See visual prompts for presentations for title-slide, proposal and lesson examples. A prompt can guide consistency but cannot guarantee exact reproduction.
Ask for a bounded review
A useful review prompt is: “Identify claims that are unsupported by the supplied sources. Quote the sentence that needs attention and explain what evidence is missing.” Then verify the criticism yourself.
For revisions, name what should change and what should remain. “Shorten slide three while preserving the figures and source qualification” is easier to evaluate than “make the deck professional.”
Save the pattern and the evidence
Keep the successful brief, the sources and the accepted result. On the next task, update the context rather than reusing outdated facts.
OpenAI’s prompting documentation offers additional technical guidance. For a product workflow, use creating presentations with AI.
Replace vague instructions with an inspectable brief
A prompt is easier to act on when it names the reader, the job, the source material, the constraints and the required output. “Make this professional” supplies none of those decisions. “Write a six-slide update for project leads using these notes; keep the delivery delay explicit and end with the approval needed” gives the work a shape.
Use a revision ladder. First correct missing or false content, then the argument, then length and tone. If you ask for polish while the recommendation is still wrong, the next draft may simply express the wrong idea more fluently. Keep accepted constraints visible and request a summary of meaningful changes when the edit is substantial.
| Brief element | Weak instruction | More useful instruction |
|---|---|---|
| Audience | For everyone | For team leads deciding on a pilot |
| Evidence | Use facts | Use these three approved notes; mark gaps |
| Deliverable | Make slides | Six slides ending with owner and decision |
| Revision | Improve it | Shorten slide three without losing the date |
Pertanyaan Umum
Do longer prompts always work better?
No. Relevant constraints help; repeated or contradictory instructions can make the task harder. Prefer a compact brief with clear sources and an explicit deliverable.
Apply the brief to a presentation outline or one of the marketing prompts. When changing models, preserve it through the handoff process.
Arahan lebih jelas. Presentasi lebih kuat.
